Track Details

For anyone who hasn't been Raceway Karting is a great track - well worth £20 for a go! Expect INDOOR KARTING in 270cc Sodi karts. These are similar to the Grimsby fleet. The extra power is great - but these karts are heavy and less responsive to steering inputs than the ones at BUMPS. You can drift them a little on corner entry to your advantage as the surface is concrete instead of tarmac and offers less grip as a result.

Track Guide

The first and second corners are driven as one, and are the best on the track. You bomb down the straight and take a 90 degree right-hander which is flat out on entry BUT you can't exit flat as you need to mash the brakes (whilst mid turn!) to get it stopped for a right-hand hairpin. Try not to exit the hairpin too wide as you will compromise your line through the next corner - which is an easily flat-out left hander. You need to get that right or you will get passed into turn 4...

Turn 4 is a 180 degree left-hand hairpin, and the best passing place on the track. Unless you are defending, apex the inside late as it is immediatly followed by another 180 hairpin (to the right this time) which can be taken with a slight lift to get the kart to rotate rather than take a wide line

Following that hairpin there is a flat-out 'bottle-neck' chicane that requires A LOT of co-operation to get through side-by-side (although even then i wouldn't advise it!) Before you come into the final corner which is a flat-out sweeping right hander (dont slide or you ruin the whole straight!) and then you are back on to the pit straight!

A good lap is in the 23's, a great lap is in the 22's.
