Hello again! A long-awaited update on all things HUGS!
1 - Thanks to everyone who came to Grimsby, the F1 Social, the race against the Deaf Karting Society and all the Football matches we played. This year's going really well, and it's brilliant to have such an active and involved group of people around. You guys rock
2 - Well done to HUGS FC on their first win of the Season in the Thursday Intra Mural League, a 2-1 victory comeback kicked off the season in spectacular style...and even though we lost our next match 3-1 we are still yet to be truly outplayed. All results, fixtures, tables etc can be found on:
http://www.hullstudent.com/intramural/
Please take note of the fixture times and send me a text/email if you're coming down for a match as we can then work out if we need to get in touch with anyone else. My number is 07981814720 btw.
Sunday afternoon kick-abouts are still taking place, though now on the Astroturf rather than the 3G pitch, as that is booked up unfortunately. This Sunday we are playing from 4-6pm, and as usual, the more of you who come down, the less it will cost. If less than about 8 people show up then we will cancel the session. Would be good to know who's coming down, as last week we had only 3 people, in comparison with about 23 the week before!!!
3 - Last night we took an elite 12 man team to race against the Hull Deaf Karting Team (some of whom raced for England) and gave a very good account of ourselves. Special mention to Josh Overhill, the driver of the day, for his superb performance in treacherously wet/dry conditions.
4 - POKER NIGHT! This will take place Friday 14th November in the Rez at 19:00...we will be charging 5 Pounds to come down and play...anyone with any poker sets, chips, playing cards or anything that they can offer us would be very much appreciated. Come down and bring your friends...the more people there, the bigger the prize will be!!!
5 - Next opportunity to race...well, the next 100% confirmed race is against York on the 3rd December, but we should know in the next couple of days whether a race at BUMPS this Wednesday coming is feasible or not. If it's not then we shall be going down to Pontefract again for the Wednesday Night Student Discount, which will cost less than 20 Pounds this time.
6 - QUIZ! We will be holding our very own quiz night sometime soon, the eminent Mr Keith Herbert shall be presiding over the evening and will hopefully be in touch soon with details about what will be going on.
7 - Pontefract results and Statistics are now up on the HUGS website (adress below), race reports and Grimsby results to follow. Busy times atm, sorry for the delay.
8 - Thanks to you all for your continued involvement with HUGS, and what is helping to make us easily the best and most active society in HUU this year!!!
9 - Almost forgot...Christmas meal will be taking place sometime in December, could you please let us know if you are interested in attending so we can get an idea of numbers to book out a restaurant.
Your President
Jon
