Hello again! The year has got off to a cracking start, and it's been great to get to know those of you who have been coming to events etc...we're really confident that the society has got a great bunch of people involved this year. And so here is what else is taking place in the world of Go-Karting at the moment:
1 - Big thanks to everyone who came down to Pontefract...despite people dropping out, minibus driver nightmares, getting lost, turning up late etc we made it to the race and hopefully everyone had a good time. Also well done to those who came to the social etc afterwards...twas an awesome night, AND generally thanks to anyone who made the whole event possible...you know who you are.
2 - GRIMSBY! ...is now only a week away, Wednesday 29th October...we are meeting for this race at 2pm at the Contintental Cafe, it will be a team endurance race like last week, but this time will last for 1.5 hours instead. Cost is £29.50 for non-members, £27 for members and £22 for anyone who came to Pontefract as part of our bargain deal for y'all!
Need to get some confirmations from people who've said they're interested, this is how it currently looks...we can take up to 40 people btw...
CONFIRMED:
Jon Beagles
Keith Herbert
Nick Drewett
Paul Hutton
Colin Smith-Bowen
Tom Smith
William Russell
Adam Hibberd
Roger Palmer
Tom Buxton
Matthew Spearey
Ben Mason-Gallagher
Brandon Rogan
Josh Overhill
Mark Foley
These 15 are all definitely coming. I need to hear back from these 10 people to make sure they are definitely turning up:
INTERESTED, NOT CONFIRMED:
Nick Shergill
Ata Jaffer
Phil Blanchard
Sam Jackson
Jimbo Perkins
Amy Charles
Tom Race
Leon Frank
Rob Holloway
James Shaw
Which means, as the more mathematically minded of you wil doubtless have worked out by now, there are still 15 spaces for this race...I will take first come first served so reply ASAP and make sure you are definitely going to turn up, because (as was proved yesterday) not showing up throws everything into disorder and panic...and we don't want that again.
3 - We need Minibus Drivers! If you are over 21 years of age, having held a driving license for at least 3 years and have 3 points or less currently on it then we need you to take the Union's minibus test...you may never actually have to drive a bus for us, but we always have to have double the number of drivers than buses for safety and insurance purposes. PLEASE GET BACK TO ME IF THIS INCLUDES YOU!!! The test is free and relatively straightforward, I am assured.
4 - T-Shirts! Paul is sorting out the order of these, it looks like they will cost about £20 each...he needs to know from everyone who has not yet got in touch what size, number (not 1, 3, 4, 5.9, 6, 9, 14, 24, 27 or 79 plus some others that individuals have already chosen this year) and nickname you want on it...if you can't think of a nickname don't worry we shall help out with an exec decision on it...which should be interesting at least!
5 - Football. We will be booking the pitch again this Sunday, time tba, will let you all know in a follow-up email. Thanks to everyone who came down for our Friendly against Rehab Rovers FC, a 1-0 defeat was at least respectable...and we could (maybe even should...?) have won it about 4-1!!!
6 - Poker Night...we will be having one soon(ish) and we need to get an idea of interest, if you would be up for coming to a Poker Night then please let us know so we can get an idea of the size of room we need to book for this.
7 - Final race of the F1 Season...we shall be having a social for this, if anyone happens to have a large room and a big TV then we'd love to hear from you, otherwise it will happen at one of our slightly smaller houses or possibly a venue we book out. This should be a good laugh, and we'll hopefully link it to having a bit of a BBQ or something at the same time...again interest in this is something we need to know about, so please get back to us ASAP so we can determine numbers. (COME ON MASSA!

)
8 - That's about it for the moment, I hope to see you all at these events and more in the future...oh and check out our forum for more info on races (past and future) and socials etc...
Ciao!
Your President
