It began at 54 Cranbrook Avenue, my house, where I waited for people to show up...eventually Sam Jackson, Will Russell, Tom Smith and Sen Ibrahim all turned up slowly and we let the games begin!
First of all we did some 'Horse Race,' though before the lady arrived of course! This is a simple game involving betting a certain amount of drink on a suit and watching a race in cards unfold...most of us went for conservative bets (bearing in mind that a win would give us double the amount of fingers to nominate other people to drink and that a loss would mean that we had to down double the amount of fingers immediately) and it was soon apparent that betting even 5 fingers on something meant you would down 10 more often than not! This was an amusing distraction for a while...but we all got a bit sick of whoever did win just chucking fingers straight on top of the ones we had just had to do, and so we turned to 'Ring of Fire' as Sen arrived!
Ring of Fire is of course a great and varied game, and this one went at a great pace...we all grew to dislike Tom intensely for his fiendish Waterfall skills (a mini-game involving not being allowed to stop drinking until the person before you has), we all laughed at Sen's inability to contain her Gin & Tonic and soon the Ring was broken...the dirty pint was downed to popular consensus (by Tom again I think...!) and we set off to Piper. Sen at this point was beginning to feel the effects of her alcohol and so we elected to carry her the length of Cranbrook Avenue...whereupon just how drunk she was was revealed, as she made comments such as 'Why isn't the pavement doing any work?' and 'Weeee...I'm flying!' but before long we turned up at Piper and went in to enjoy the Pound a Pint brilliance!!!
Paul (Social Sec) showed up late to the social after having had a Fencing bout earlier...and there were plenty of Old Boy Karters out in force that evening too...but all in all the 6 of us danced the night away before going to Pizza By Papa for some chips and pizza and calling it a night on the first proper social of the Go-Karting Year!
